Eric Lucas created National Tax to offer accounting methods planning and compliance services at reasonable rates to taxpayers, CPA firms, consulting firms and law firms looking for specialized expertise. Eric has advised clients on complex tax issues and IRS controversy matters for nearly thirty years.
Eric led the tax accounting and methods practice of the National Office of a big four firm for 12 years before forming National Tax. His government experience includes the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy (Tax Legislative Counsel), the National Office of the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, and the IRS Independent Office of Appeals (Appeals Team Case Leader).
While at Treasury, Eric was the lead attorney on many of the most complex IRS regulatory and guidance projects, including the inventory rules under section 263A, the repair regulations under section 263(a), LIFO regulations, and rules addressing non-taxable mergers and distributions under section 381 to name a few.
